How to choose label material

Short answer: coated paper labels are fine for cardboard, boxes and paper packaging in dry conditions; choose opaque PP for products exposed to water, oil or moisture. Use clear PP on glass and transparent packaging where the surface should show through, and prepare white areas as a separate layer.

Start with the surface and the environment

Two questions are enough: what will the label stick to, and under what conditions will it stay there? A cardboard box on a dry shelf and a plastic bottle in the fridge need different materials. Shape, size and cutting come second; for that, see our guide labels or stickers.

Three materials, three characters

Coated paper

Vivid colours and sharp text; suited to cardboard, cartons, paper bags and dry food packaging. Being paper-based, it is not suitable for constant contact with water or outdoor use. On coated labels you can choose no lamination, matt or gloss lamination; lamination protects against rubbing and moisture.

Opaque PP (plastic)

Water- and oil-resistant. The choice for plastic bottles, cosmetics, kitchen and bathroom products and containers that go into the fridge. Available as custom-size stickers and label sheets.

Clear PP

The surface shows through, so on glass bottles, jars, windows and clear packaging it looks printed directly on. White ink is possible on clear material: prepare the areas you want white as a separate layer in your file, otherwise they stay transparent.

Heat, moisture and removability

How long a label lasts depends not only on the material but also on how clean and curved the surface is, the temperature and how the product is used. That is why we do not promise a specific lifetime. For hot filling, heat-exposed products or permanent outdoor use, message us on WhatsApp before ordering.

Removable or residue-free adhesive is not part of our standard range. If you need it, ask on WhatsApp and we will check whether a suitable solution exists, but we cannot guarantee residue-free removal. We do not produce roll labels; labels are delivered individually or on sheets.

Prepare the surface before applying

Even the best material holds poorly on dusty, greasy or wet surfaces. Apply labels to a clean, dry surface, pushing the air out as you go. On tightly curved surfaces such as a narrow bottle neck, small and narrow labels sit better; large ones may lift at the edges. Adhesion can be weaker on rough, dusty cardboard or textured plastic; start with a test label there.

Test first for critical uses

If the label is essential to selling a product, goes through a machine or faces tough conditions, we recommend a small test first. Sticking it on your real product and watching it for a few days beats surprises after printing hundreds of labels.

Preparing the file

  • For custom shapes, draw the cut line as a separate vector contour, apart from the artwork.
  • Keep text 3–5 mm inside the cut and extend the background 3 mm as bleed.
  • If every label needs a different QR code or number (variable data), ask for a quote on WhatsApp.
  • Check ingredients, dates and barcodes yourself before printing; we run the technical check.

Frequently asked questions

Are coated labels waterproof?

Lamination protects coated labels against moisture and rubbing, but being paper-based they are not ideal for constant water contact or outdoor use; opaque PP is better there.

Can white be printed on clear labels?

Yes. Prepare the areas you want white as a separate layer in your file; without it, those areas stay transparent.

Do you make residue-free removable labels?

Not as a standard product. Ask on WhatsApp and we will look at options together, but we cannot guarantee residue-free removal.

Do you print roll labels?

No. Labels are delivered individually (coated labels) or on sheets (label sheets, stickers).

Can each label have a different QR code or number?

Variable data jobs are quoted on WhatsApp.
