When should Ramadan timetables be handed out and ordered?

Short answer: the timetable should be in your customers’ hands before the first sahur; ideally hand it out in the one to two weeks before Ramadan. To do that, order at least four to five weeks before Ramadan. Ramadan 2027 begins in early February, so December and January are the right time to order.

When should timetables be handed out?

A Ramadan timetable (imsakiye) is a calendar people check every day during Ramadan, and they look for one as Ramadan approaches. A timetable that is not in hand before the first sahur misses the most-checked moments of the first days. So it is best to hand them out in the one to two weeks before Ramadan and to continue during the first days of Ramadan.

Ramadan moves about 10–11 days earlier every year because the Hijri year is shorter than the solar year. Ramadan 2027 begins in early February; check the exact date in the Diyanet calendar.

The earlier design and approval are finished, the easier distribution becomes; if you are printing for several districts, start a little earlier.

Who can hand them out, and how?

  • Grocers, bakeries, butchers: to every customer at the till or in the shopping bag.
  • Pharmacies: in the medicine bag; it becomes a reminder checked every day.
  • Municipalities and associations: door to door, at events and at service points.
  • Online sellers: in the parcels shipped before Ramadan.

To stay visible all year after Ramadan, a branded calendar is a good follow-up.

Which size for what?

  • Pocket size: carried in a wallet; the usual choice for handing out.
  • Flyer size: sits on the fridge, desk or counter.
  • Poster: for shops, notice boards near mosques, association and municipal buildings.
